Boston Magazine and Design Home 2012 – a Design for a Worthy Cause

Design Home 2012_Boston Magazine
This year the Boston Magazine pulled out all of the stops this year for style and design of the home located in the Crownings Cove Community, The best part is that proceeds from the tours go to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England. This was a brilliant partnership with several great organizations, such as the World Class Builder, Eugene Mattie.

This 5 plus bedroom home is magnificent. There are a few areas that I am in love with, such as the Pilates Studio, the Kitchen, Mom’s Ultra Retreat, the Reading Room and the Backyard.  Every detail of these areas were carefully planned and fine tuned with finesse. From the Windows, the trim, the flooring and interior furnishings.  I would find it hard to believe that someone would not want to live in such a splendid home. Personally, I think that every home needs a private Pilates or Yoga Studio.

How to Use Color as a Pick-Me-Up Inspiration in Your Bedroom

Photo Credit: Better Homes Gardens When it comes time to redecorate your bedroom, do you struggle with the decision of what colors to use? People spend more time in their bedrooms than any other room in the house, so it should be decorated using relaxing, inviting colors. However, sometimes just picking your favorite hue or the latest trend may not give you the desired effect from your bedroom.

Depending on what you are looking for, whether it is a Zen and tranquil or bold, sexy and seductive, paint, bedding and decor play a huge part in the energy and feel of your bedroom.

Purples

Decorating in purple is sophisticated, sexy and dramatic. Purple is also a very versatile color. Using different shades can achieve your desired effect by pairing with complimentary design pieces. Dark purple says drama and elegance and can be paired with jewel tones for accents. Lavender, along with other pastels, can look juvenile if you use too many of them in a space. Cutting pastels with neutrals creates a mature and restful look.

Blues and Greens

Utilizing blue and green hues can create a peaceful energy in your bedroom and help you sleep better. Depending on the shade and decor, blue and green virtually go with any style whether it be country cottage, coastal bungalow or city loft. For the ultimate spa-like, relaxing atmosphere, a bedroom in blue or green will help you feel restful and harmonious when you need it most.

The primary reason for this is that humidity levels can rise significantly during a bath or shower, and can create the perfect breeding ground for mold, mildew. This can have a serious and negative impact on one's health.

Another important factor is that excess humidity and moisture over extended periods can cause paint and wallpaper to crack and peel. Also, it can ruin wallboard, make doors warp and create rust on cabinets or fixtures.  All of which can be prevented with the addition of a reliable bathroom exhaust fan.

A Cord In The Hand…:

Frank LLoyd Wright Masterwork in A Fight for Its Life

It is hard to believe that a masterwork by one of the greatest architects of all time, Frank LLoyd Wright is in danger of being torn down by a developer in Phoenix. The house in question was built in 1952 for Frank Lloyd Wright's son David. What is more amazing is that the home was not well known among architectural historians. One must wonder how this slipped by, since the house is an authentic Frank Lloyd Wright orginal.

This is so sad that a developer would not see the beauty and benefit of keeping this home and restoring it to its original splendor.  The house alone, brings so much history and lends strength to all that surrounds it. Skimming through the headlines on the internet, you read the outrage by admirers of Frank Lloyd Wright;s work and architecture in general.
