In the post, Rejecting the perfect kitchen, Yes You Can!, the author brilliantly points out that settling for the perfect kitchen can be dull and boring. Break the Mold!. Include an element of surprise in your kitchen design using things in non traditional ways, such as a certain material, an unusual color or an appliance or fixture.
This post inspired me to check out unusual/exotic kitchen designs on my the design site Houzz. The article on 18 ways to make your kitchen your own inspired me so much that I created a Donco Designs inspiration book "Exotic Kitchens.
I love the writer's suggestion of creating a "smart and sassy" kitchen that takes you away from the conservative and ordinary. Using color and doing something out of the ordinary helps bring personality to a kitchen.
Your kitchen is a critical area, so remember that your design set the tone of the experience and feeling of the kitchen.
